The Costa Calida – which means ” warm coast ” has a micro climate featuring comparatively hot annual temperatures:
It’s coastline extends from near the north province of Alicante to the south near Almeria, the northern end of the coastline includes the Mar Menor, a coastal salt water lagoon, the largest in Europe.
The lagoon is separated from the Mediterranean by a 22km – long strip of land known as La Manga, La Manga is an extremely popular area for tourists to visit, with it’s world famous 5 star luxury resort, La Manga Club, and with its three 18-hole golf courses.
The Costa Calida has a large selection of sports and leisure facilities the larger towns and villages all have well equipped sports centers usually with tennis or paddle courts available for hire. Most water-sports are also catered for along the coast, with diving schools, windsurfing, sailing, and canoeing.
